On a daily basis, Project Live ensures that the 300 individuals served have access to safe, clean and affordable housing.
Project Live, Inc. provides all tenants with access to a full array of support services, including activities of daily living skills training, case management, crisis intervention, peer support counseling, linkages and referral to benefits and health care services, and opportunities for recreation/socialization. Each tenant has an individualized social service plan that is designed to engage them as soon as they move into Project Live housing. Employment and education services are offered to promote self-sufficiency and maximization of each tenant’s full potential.
The major program elements of Project Live are:
(1) Residential Programs
(2) Co-Occurring Residential Programs
(3) Supportive Housing
(4) Projects for Assistance in Transitioning from Homelessness (PATH)
(5) Employment (Peer Support, Maintenance, Administrative)
The Residential Services are varied, with many levels of service intensity depending on the needs of each individual. Treatment is designed to maximize each person’s independence. The group homes and apartments owned and operated by Project Live are all integrated in the community. They are all within walking distance of shopping, recreation, and public transportation options. Each home is well maintained and provides a safe environment, helping create a stable future for the residents and the community.
A significant percentage of the mental health community also struggles with issues surrounding substance abuse. To that end, PLI has developed a Co-Occurring residential program to assist these consumers with their special set of needs. We have Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) on staff and 2 group homes dedicated to meet the specific and unique needs of these individuals.
Project Live’s Supportive Housing program consists of individuals living in either single family homes or either a studio, one or two bedroom apartment. Supportive Serivces are provided by a multi-disciplinary team with various levels of experience such as Psychiatrists, Liscensed Clinicians (LCSW, LPC, LSW, LAC), Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, BA/BS Professionals, and Individuals with life experience. On a daily basis, Project Live provides evidenced-based, culturally competent and strengths-based services which are consumer driven and based on the principles of wellness and recovery.
Federally funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration the Projects for Assistance in Transitioning from Homelessness (PATH) Program provides outreach and engagement into services to individuals who are homeless and have mental health needs. The Project Live PATH program provides services to those located in Newark, NJ.
Responding to the needs of the consumers and to serve our goal to integrate people and have them involved and contributing to general society at large, Project Live developed an Employment Program to assist individuals in transitioning to and obtaining competitive employment. Paid employment opportunities (including maintenance, secretarial and counseling positions) within the agency have been developed as a means to achieve this goal.
